I once had a bit of a nightmare, and in that nightmare my ex got up and left with our son. I remember being in total shock and when I picked up a pair of his socks I realizing that was all that was left.
In the nightmare I remember feeling distraught, then I woke up and after a few seconds realized I had had a nightmare and was relieved. But once I was fully awake and had come to my senses I realized that is exactly what had happened and those feelings returned again. I never really got over what happened and I don't think I ever will. To be honest, I don't know if you ever recover from something like that.
