They both get away with their crimes because nobody believes the claims.

They screen their secret behaviour from the public.

They both hurt people.

The VAC (Verbally Abusive Controller) has the advantage of not leaving DNA evidence and being able to avoid investigation because those empowered to deal with such matters aren't trained (or interested for reasons to do with lack of material evidence) or beliefs that physical damage is worse than mental damage (unless its sexual of course and then they jump all over it).

Neither leave bruises.

Why should the BBC take the blame so harshly?

It's a human condition to live in denial - most of us are not designed to be able to deal with the reality of this sort of situation. Might be school teachers are trained to deal with sexual abuse but they are certainly not trained to deal with "folie à plusieurs" and all the unconscious currents that run in mentally ill families that leave a child mentally scarred and able to pass on their abuse to their partners and offspring.
