www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-19291258for me there are several messages here which draw parallels to research into control and domestic/psychological abuse. This 15 year old "stood on the shoulders of giants" to produce a cancer test 1000 times less expensive and 168 times faster than the current. While he's clearly an amazing guy he also got ONE acceptance letter and hundreds of rejection letters. What the majority saw was a 15 year old boy without a science degree and was cast aside. What he has done is actually worth $billions and can save lives. He's amazing and I hope he comes up with some more inventions that can save so much hurt, tears and lives. I included this here because to get an understanding of control and psychological abuse there too is no PHD, there is NO qualification, there is only the investment made in research and understanding the psychological phenomenon by the victims and others that are prepared to research it. No PHD cam address everything but it is symbolic that the holder has invested in their research and duly gained experience. But there are also too many PHD's out there writing the rules and saying "how it is" without them really understanding the dynamics of a situation. Control remains poorly understood.
